To ensure your fibre internet is functioning properly, there are a few essential checks you can perform before contacting support. These steps can help you identify whether the issue lies with your fibre line, router, or internal network setup.
Step-by-step: #
- Check the ONT Light Indicators
- Locate the ONT (Optical Network Terminal), the device that converts fibre signals to internet data.
- Confirm that the “PON” or “Link” light is solid green. This indicates a stable fibre connection from the provider.
- If the light is red, blinking, or off, your connection may be disrupted.
- Run a Speed Test
- Connect a laptop or PC directly to the router using an Ethernet cable.
- Visit a speed test website like speedtest.net and check your download/upload speeds.
- Compare the results with your fibre package speed to identify any discrepancies.
- Connect Directly
- If you usually connect via WiFi, plug directly into the router via LAN/Ethernet to rule out wireless interference or signal weakness.
- Inspect Cables and Power
- Ensure all fibre and Ethernet cables are firmly connected.
- Make sure the router and ONT are both plugged in and powered on.
- Check for Load Shedding
- Load shedding or power outages may affect your router or ONT. Use a UPS to keep your equipment powered.
- Troubleshooting
- Power cycle both your router and ONT by unplugging them for 30 seconds and plugging them back in.
- If issues persist, contact Innovo Networks support to diagnose fibre faults or initiate a line test.
