Is VoIP secure?

< 1 min read

VoIP security measures have been implemented into our systems and how the system is configured. Because VoIP uses the internet, it is susceptible to cyber threats like eavesdropping and hacking. However, we implement and provide security measures to mitigate these risks including:

  • Encryption: Protocols such as Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol (SRTP) encrypt voice data, preventing unauthorized access.
  • Firewalls & Network Security: VoIP-aware firewalls can filter and block suspicious traffic to prevent intrusions.
  • Intrusion Detection & Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS): These monitor network activity for anomalies and block potential attacks.
  • Authentication & Access Control: Strong passwords, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and role-based access ensure only authorized users access the system.
  • Regular Updates: Keeping VoIP software and firmware up to date helps patch security vulnerabilities.

By combining these security measures, businesses can significantly reduce the risks associated with VoIP communications.
